The Journey of Us

Our Lifted by K(i)SS, LLC began during COVID quarantine, in my backyard. Amidst the worldwide upheaval of our century's weirdest season of life, I found myself in my backyard doing science experiments and attempting to provide my kids with sufficient education and fun. When Shane and I started working together, I had contracted with him to turn my backyard into the beautiful oasis that it is today.

Over weeks of dirt work, design and renovation Shane not only brought my vision to life, but also gave me and my kids an education on "Renovations with Shane" and Lifted was born.

Shane's passion, determination, and an unwavering belief in the power of the renovation gave me hope for what we could create together.

Starting a home renovation business was definitely a journey but our shared deep love for creating beautiful living spaces helped me to see the potential we could create together.

Our First "Lifted" Experience

The first home we chose to renovate together, we affectionately call "Walden". After months of renovating this mid-century diamond in the rough with luxurious design and furnishings, we found out from the inspection board that because of the added value of the luxurious furnishings and materials we chose for the design, we would have to "lift" the entire home but 4 feet to meet new municipal codes, unbeknownst to us.

Our Walden "baby" was quickly becoming our Walden "money pit". With a 6-figure "lift" not being in the budget, we went back to the drawing board, we waited, and we hoped for another answer. Every step of the way Shane was encouraging and his "we'll figure it out" attitude was priceless as I was certifiably freaking out.

Within a couple weeks, we received a tip that if I, an Estate Attorney by trade, was to become a General Contractor, we could circumvent this municipal code and we would be able to pass our inspection. Walden would live!!! What started as a simple renovation project, became one of the most challenging few months of my life, and through it all, we discovered we could become something more.

Building a Brand

In the competitive Baton Rouge market of home renovations, we needed to build a brand that reflected our experience, unique design style, values, and vision. We focused on creating a company synonymous with luxurious design, quality, creativity, and reliability.

It’s easy to get caught up in the details of design, materials, and deadlines. However our heart for our clients goes beyond transforming physical spaces. Our mission is deeply rooted in the belief that our primary job is to uplift each other in every aspect of life and for us, it begins in our homes. This ethos drives our interactions with clients and our their broader commitment to making a positive impact on the world.

Looking Ahead

Our next project at "Applewood", and a few others waiting in the wings will continue to grow our business, and further solidify our commitment to uplifting others and creating beautiful, luxurious, and creative homes.

In a world where challenges are inevitable, we remember that our true job is to lift each other up and create something amidst the chaos of life. We focus on the positive and commit to making a difference. Together, we can create a brighter, more uplifting future for everyone around us.
